5 Ways Your Life Will Change (For the Better!) When You Start to CrossFit.

1. You will be surrounded by good AWESOME people!

Starting CrossFit means that you are surrounding yourself with people who value health, nutrition and in general have a positive energy.  It is important to surround yourself with people who make you happy.  People who love life, people who have ambition and people who make you laugh.  The beauty of CrossFit is that this type of person is the type that you will be in contact with every time you step into the box.  Not only will this make you feel good but it will also help you become a better person!

2. You become a kid again

As you grow up and become an adult the responsibilities of work and family can overtake your life and there is little room for play.  Have a look in your day planner.  Chances are it is full of business meetings, project deadlines, errands, etc.  Have you scheduled play time anywhere in your calendar?  CrossFit is the ultimate way to be a kid again because each class is a complete hour where you can fully be in the moment.  You can leave your stress and worries at the door and focus all of your energy on movement and being aware of your body.  You will try things that, perhaps, you have not tried since you were a child; Hand stands, rope climbs, maybe even somersaults!

3. You will learn that you can keep going long after you think you can’t

This is one of the best lessons CrossFit will teach you.  There will be days when you get part way into a WOD and self doubt starts to creep into your mind.  You may start to wonder why you are even doing this WOD, you may think that you should just quit, but the beauty of it is that you won’t.  You will push on and likely the awesome people around you will be cheering you on.  You will finish the WOD and you will carry that sense of accomplishment into other areas of your life as well.

4. Your confidence will increase

It is funny how one change in your life will cascade into a series of positive changes.  When you start CrossFit you start hanging out with people who have positive influences on your life.  These positive influences mean that you will begin to cultivate a more positive outlook on life, you will start to make better nutritional choices and you will exercise more.  You will play and realize that your body can do many amazing things and you will discover that you are mentally stronger than you ever imagined.  This will lead to PR’s in the box and it will also lead to PR’s in life.  Your confidence will help you succeed at work and your confidence will also carry into your family life.

5. You become more awesome at life

My previous CrossFit coach, Dan Rogers (who has now become a police officer…and a damn good one!) used to talk and live this motto:  “Increase the awesome and decrease the suck”.  This is what CrossFit is all about.  You will become more awesome at life.
